Prerequisite: Completion of all of the following learning contents required to start. Western Canadian Spill Services Orientation (course)
Managing a hydrocarbon spill in a large river environment can present several challenges that quickly become significant. It requires safe and effective response measures, often in multiple locations. Trained boat operators and response teams, access and staging areas can often present limitations, therefore pre-planning and steady communication is critical. Responders must be aware of the effects and behaviours of an oil spill in any environment to determine the right equipment and tactics to use. This course is Part 2 of the Oil Spill Containment & Recovery in a Water Body in a Large River coop exercise - completion of the WCSS Orientation being Part 1. Once a learner has been certified in both online training components, attendance at the associated field exercise is the final step to ensure that regulatory requirements are met for WCSS member companies.
OSCAR in a Large River will take approximately 40 minutes to complete, with knowledge checks that are incorporated throughout. At the completion of this module, the learner will be able to download or print their own certificate.
