Prerequisite: Completion of all of the following learning contents required to start. WCSS Spill Responder 100 (course)
Led by spill response industry experts, students begin the first day of training by reviewing the complexities of access, site assessment, containment and recovery tactics, wildlife management, storage and waste management, and decontamination considerations in a small watercourse environment. An open-book exam will follow the classroom component.
The remainder of the course allows for practical, hands-on training to enable students with several opportunities to familiarize themselves with the right equipment and build upon decision-making skills to effectively respond to a release.
