Prerequisite: Completion of all of the following learning contents required to start. Step 1: Western Canadian Spill Services Orientation (course), Step 2: Oil Spill Containment & Recovery in a Small Watercourse (course)
Streams & Small River Exercise Outcome Goals: To enable attendees to assist the Operations Section Chief or designate in a spill environment with the development of equipment in an effort to contain and recover the spilled material and/or protect sensitive areas.
Attendees will be offered the opportunity to get hands-on training with WCSS equipment that can be expected to be used at a release site where shallow and fast water boom, trolley line, instream and shoreline anchors, a Watergate dam, a pedco skimmer, centrifugal pump and associated gear may be required. Wildlife and decontamination tools and tactics will also be reviewed.
